Project 2

Artificial Lighting Design Layout: LUMEN METHOD

In this project, we were required to choose an indoor space measure approximately at 10m x 6m. The chosen space for our group is a restaurant dining space. We have to suggest an effective layout of artificial lighting (general lighting) and to identify other types of lighting that can complement the general lighting for our chosen space.

Through this project I have learned to use the Lumen Method which is a calculation to determine the number of lamps that should be installed in a space. I also learn about the different kind of lighting such as task lighting, accent lighting and general lighting. I was also able to learn how to space out the lamps and the standard illumination level for general building areas.
