Project 1: Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street
For this project, we were required to choose a traditional street from a list of streets provided to study their distinctive place contexts. We have to identify its' physical and non-physicals contexts and compile our findings in a sketch journal. The findings may be assisted by various forms of references such as books, articles and journals.

I feel very fortunate as through this project I was given the opportunity to deep-dive into the history of my chosen traditional street, Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, and how it became what it is today. I was able to see the street in a different way and was able to discern the physical and non-physical contexts of the street which made me have a stronger connection with the traditional architecture in Malaysia and how important it is to preserve our heritage as Malaysians. Moreover, I was also able to practice sketching and line-art through producing the sketch journal. What I could have improved on my sketch journal was the layout and drawings. I learned that it is important to draft the layout beforehand and asking for other people's opinion can help improve the overall composition of the sketch journal. The drawings should show the line weight to portray it better.
