Project 3

Space and Sensory: Self - Exploration through Spaces

Project 3 incorporates all that we have learned from the previous projects and challenges us to execute our methods rigorously. In project 3, we will have to look back at our  tectonic structure from Project 2 and deconstruct it layer by layer to form an approximately 20m³ structure. From here, we will identify a dominant theme from our understanding of emotion and enhance the structure to create a poetic architectural representation and our own reinterpretation of our design. Our sensitivity to the articulation and mastery of spatial experience should ignite a sensorial experience for the ourselves as a first-year student in university. We have to further develop articulation and sensorial experience to highlight the beauty of the banal action we have chosen.

In this project I was able to develop a conceptual narrative. I was also able to consider objective and subjective parameters in the design process to create a space that is practical yet poetic as well as explore how the selection and application of materials in relation to the sensory experience of space. My tutor for this project is Mr Chern, he is a very helpful tutor as he often gives ideas on how we can improve our design and he would ask us to comment on our peers' designs to let us improve our commenting skills as well. I really like the way he teaches where he lets us to present our ideas one by one infront of our tutorial group.
